In the UK there are about 5000 Chinese herbal doctors. Three universities have degree courses in Chinese Herbal Medicine and during the past five years clinics have appeared in most towns that have proved popular with many. At present registration of practitioners is not required although this will probably change in the next year or so. A modern text book of Chinese Medicine also includes animal and mineral products and many items are excluded from use by law both in China and in the UK.
The herbs used in Professor Wu’s formulation for addiction therapy are all permissible in China and the UK and all have the status of foodstuffs i.e. they are herbs. All the ingredients can be bought over the counter in any herbal shop in this country. No ingredients have any mind altering effects whatsoever.
The formula has not been released to date partly for copyright reasons and partly because further variations and evaluations may be made.
